Our Commitment
CivNews' mission is a simple one: to provide regular, high-quality journalism on CivMC.
It is not something particularly grandiose, not something destined to create drama through haphazard reporting standards, but it is rooted in six simple commitments to respect you, our reader.
1. Neutrality
CivNews and its publications will produce content that is independent and objective, without slant.
2. Multi-Source Verification
To prevent issues seen amongst other Civjournalism outlets, CivNews will implement multi-source verification practices, at editorial level, before publishing reports.
3. Clarity
You will always know what type of content you are reading, and whether it is of fact or opinion, when reading a CivNews article.
4. Guaranteed Right of Reply
More common in The Rakikoan Reader than PUCK, CivNews will provide a guaranteed right of reply to the accused. It does not guarantee that publication will wait for the reply, but it does promise that the published article will reflect this, and future edits will include any reply.
5. Ethics
CivNews lays bare its promise to not platform content of inflammatory, hateful, harmful, or insensitive nature.
6. Broad Representation
CivNews commits to ensuring it platforms a broad variety of articles from across CivMC. Whether through global coverage in The Rakikoan Reader, launching local papers like The Oakham Observer, or providing a hockey fix through PUCK, CivNews has you covered.
